My Experience with 4 OS in 24 Hours
I have been a Mac user for more than ten years, using them as my primary development machine, running all sorts of tools that I threw at them; I love their simplicity and work out of the box. However, the last few years, my experience with Mac is not that great; the primary reason is the performance of Docker, a standard containerization framework, which helps us to have a simpler development workflow across different environments. Moreover, their last two OS updates are not even getting installed; finally, I got into the install loop of their last two OS updates; the new one is not getting installed and can't roll back to the previous version. So, I got one of the best laptops in the market, "ROGZephyruss G15.", it comes with windows, as soon as I open, I remembered the very reason I moved to Mac. Some of the old usability issues are still there even after ten years, and the start menu is one of the most complex interfaces. As my primary reason was to run the Docker natively, I don't even want to waste anytime further.
My natural choice was to install Ubuntu; I have used Ubuntu in the past, it was one of the best desktop Linux available then. Linux is still a complex ecosystem; getting the right drivers for even basic as wifi, mouse, and keyboard will get into problem. My installation didn't go as well as I thought. It couldn't recognize the mouse first, then keep disappearing. So I abandoned the installation.
I called Minat, my go-to person for open source tools; he has suggested trying Garuda Linux, the installation was straightforward, pull all the right set of drivers. The UI is one of the best I have seen so far. The performance is awesome, and it uses the fraction of memory and CPU compared to all the other OS that I have tried so far. I still cannot get my second monitor to work, but I am going to keep this as my development OS and see where it takes.
FYI. I couldn't fix the multiple monitor support and also faced few stability issues with Garuda OS, given a try to POP OS, which is getting great reviews, POP OS is based on ubuntu, therefore you get all your favorite development tools. So far all working fine, they have incredible support for NVIDIA graphics.
