My eventful 2022 in review

New Job, New Role

After more than a decade at my previous employers, I began this year with a new role leading the data team at Wema Bank Plc. To be honest, I wasn't sure what the future held for me, but I held on to my faith in God and the resilience He had helped me build for the fight ahead of me.

It turned out to be a terrific move because I was able to build and work with a highly dynamic team of young data professionals who created magic and added value to the business all year.

I want to thank my entire Data Analytics team for their support and hard work. Thank you, Tunde Mumuni , for creating an environment in which I may thrive.

Clarity Sessions on Data Analytics

The year also began with me answering the call to launch a program that assists young data professionals and enthusiasts in navigating their data journey. I was able to do the following:

  • 11 Group Clarity Sessions?
  • 10 One-on-One Sessions?

I was able to directly reach approximately 100 people through these meetings, delivering various sorts of help based on where they were on their data journey. Thank you, Feso Bright, MBA, FSM, CIMA Adv Dip MA , my good friend, for sharing his useful experience during some of the sessions.

In December, I put the icing on the cake by facilitating my first webinar for young undergraduates and fresh school leavers on how to chart their courses in Data Analytics.

Public Speaking Engagements

The year also provided numerous possibilities for speaking engagements as a Data Analytics thought leader.

In March, I talked about "Strategies for Hiring and Retaining a Data Analytics Team" at the ITWeb BI 2022 virtual summit, and in May 2022, I spoke on Sentiment and Social Media Analysis at the Group Futurista Virtual Summit on Future of Text Analytics #FOTA2022.

10Alytics invited me to present at their webinar on Succeeding as a Data Analyst in August. Thank you for having me, Temitope Olorunsola @oluleye

The following month, in October, Datafest Africa (the first of its kind in Nigeria) took place, and it was fantastic to connect with hundreds of interesting young individuals doing wonderful things in Nigeria's data area.

Beyond Cutting Edge Analytics: Changing the Culture of Data-Driven Decision-Making" was the topic of my presentation. For the first time, I also met amazing colleagues who have since become friends, such as Ayodele Oluleye Gift Ojeabulu Blessing Adesiji Opeyemi Fabiyi

In November, I was in Johannesburg, South Africa, speaking at Corinium Global Intelligence CDAO Africa 2022, where I had a great time on a Keynote Panel Discussion: Championing the Next Stage of Your Digital Transformation: Building Big Data Analytics Capabilities with Digital Platforms.

In November, Techpoint Africa 's #TheFintechSummit2022 took place, and I was on a panel discussion about the impact of Fintech on the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

I also gave a talk on Staying Adaptive: "Introduction to Data Analytics" at BeyondaDegree Foundation . Thank you for inviting me, Esther Adegunle (ACMA, CGMA) .

In December, I wrapped off my speaking schedule with a Quantum Analytics NG Masterclass on the secrets of a successful data analyst and a FITC Nigeria HR Analytics session, which was a first for me in a classroom setting.

Looking after this Temple

In 2022, I increased my fitness ambitions by completing the Lagos City Marathon (10 Km Race) in February and actively joining a gym in March to make healthy living a lifestyle.
