My End of Year Review and Goal Setting Process

My End of Year Review and Goal Setting Process

For all my pals who geek out on this stuff here’s a peek at my process. Mind maps I draft by hand, ranging from personal to professional goals for the new year and beyond will be committed to my?digital workflow platform for tracking, measuring and accountability to both myself and my own coach.

PROCESS

Day 1

> Draft a brutally honest personal and professional Mea Culpa - call/text/email anyone I need to get right with. Burn the list.

> Review this year’s planner and digital platform to account for success/failure rate of all goals: This year 82%.

> Organize all online and offline materials for next day of the process (journals, notebooks, digital files, etc.)

Day 2

> Mind map drafts of all personal and professional areas of interest, projects, etc. (1st draft is usually 22 maps, final draft 15 maps).

> Mind maps polish with a fresh perspective.

> Draft my personal affirmations for the new year.

> Finalize mind maps.

Day 3

> Commit maps to my digital workflow platform.

> Record audio of myself stating affirmations in my own voice for daily listening after meditation.

> Lock and load ready for the new year with the first 12 weeks of action items detailed.

Love this! Kudos on having such a thoughtful system for clarifying goals and planning, Damon! I appreciate you detailing the multiple drafts of mind maps across personal and professional categories. Capturing affirmations in your own voice is powerful for alignment and execution. It's a rigorous preparation process that no doubt sets you up for focus and achievement in the year ahead.

Such a cool process. I remember when Damon first told me about this. When he was done, he chuckled because I was so quiet. He made some self deprecating comment about how I must think he is some sort of weirdo (paraphrasing, my words, not his). I was in awe. I love this idea, so much.

You rock Damon! I would love to have more details and especially how do you stay on track, life always takes the better of my intentions.
