Reading Electricity - $20 on Amazon

Reading Electricity - $20 on Amazon

I had the chance and pleasure of being admitted into the Schulich school of Engineering in the Fall of 2021, it was intense and exciting for me.

While I was there I got to drop an egg from 2m in my Mechanical Engineering Class and make sure it didn't break, not a single crack or we failed the test.

I got to have Chemistry homework turn into a problem. And most notably, due to the hands on nature, my electrical engineering class wanted us to tinker with electricity. So we did just that.

I went over to the University of Calgary to pick up my electrical kit to start playing and here we were... missing pieces in the lego set, and my grades were on the line, and we couldn't go back for more. We had to improvise! So, I took videos and got snazzy with how I calculated how much electricity needed to be rerouted with the resistors we had, to meet the electrical readings we were required to meet ?? FUN!

Luckily, in Engineering we were all swimming in the same boat - so, I had the most encouraging team and group of friends while I was in there. They understood the intimate struggles of wanting to do well - we were nerds after all who valued grades, but with the stresses of Engineering.. you weren't given enough time or resources - that was the whole point.

The point of it all:

  1. Can you read how much electricity something has?
  2. How do you know that's a lot of electricity or not? Answer: how many resistors it can hop over.
  3. Can you make it flow backwards?

Here are links of me trying to explain it to my teacher as to how I had to get snazzy with the resources we were given & Wikipedia -

Explaining to my teacher not understanding... there wasn't supposed to be enough equipment in the bag ??

Resistors help you play with electricity. It's like having hurdles in the way. It lets you know how much electricity you got, depending on how high it can jump those hurdles - and how many. Less-electric electricity can't jump through as many hurdles, whereas high-electric electricity can and is sometimes needed that we put that many hurdles in front of it ??

Making sure we get a negative reading - because it means we know how to make electricity flow in the opposite direction. Same amount of electricity, just different direction ?

That's it folks - this was my time learning how to play with electricity. When I was younger, I got gifted an electricity set to learn how to make electrons flow through and power a lightbulb. I never knew it was going to come in handy.

Hi there! ??Your enthusiasm for experimenting reminds me of what Thomas Edison once said, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Keep exploring and making those discoveries. And speaking of making a difference, you might be interested in joining us for a Guinness World Record attempt for Tree Planting, a perfect blend of innovation and nature! ?? Absolutely electrifying experiment! ?? Remember what Nikola Tesla said, "The present is theirs; the future, for which I really worked, is mine." Your curiosity and hands-on approach are paving the way for future innovations. Keep experimenting and learning! ????
