In 2009 when I was jobless, my class mate arranged an interview for me in a well known confectionary company located in S.I.T.E Area, Karachi. The friend who referred me was working in the same company. I reached there at 10:00 am sharp and was first interviewed by G.M Business Development around 11:00 am, then by G.M Marketing around 3:00 pm and finally by His Highness Mr. M.D at 6:00 pm. The 8 hour wait was unbearable since there were no smart phones.....no 3G/4G at that time. I didn't know I'll be made to wait this long else I would have carried a book to kill some time. And the worst part....... I was made to wait in a small room with no AC.
So you can imagine how painful the wait would have been. The environment was suffocating and I felt like running away from there without being interviewed. But at the same time I didn't want to embarrass my friend in front of his bosses, so I chose to stay, kept my cool and waited with patience. However I already made up my mind of not joining that place even if I got selected.
Next day I was informed about my selection but I politely turned turned down the offer. I was unemployed for another 6 months before I landed in a telecom company. Those 6 months of unemployment were not easy by any means, but I swear to God, not for a second did I regret my decision of turning down the offer from the "Presteegious Kompny".
Would love to hear your story if you too have been through similar experience.
