My Dog

My Dog

Yesterday was 25th September and it has been a year since Ricky passed on at 19. I recalled a poem written several years ago when he was younger ...

My dog is...

At times a simple-minded boy,

Having pleasure playing with his favorite toy,

At times a rebelling youngster, daringly defying my orders,

At times an amusing clown, bringing tears to my laughter,

At times an adoring baby, cuddling tightly in my arms,

At times a pleading child, with his head on my lap,

Persuasively saying, "Can I have some more snacks, please?",

My dog gives me mixed feelings...

Of amusement, frustration and affection...

Which all seems to humanize my very own existence!
