My Difference Maker

My Difference Maker

As we celebrate Father's Day, I'd like to honor someone who made an indelible imprint in my life: Daddy.

From the day of my birth to the date of his death, Daddy was a driving force in my life.

I learned from his strong work ethic the importance of being trustworthy, keeping my commitments and doing my very best. He hated being late and believed in going the extra mile.

He took his role as Father seriously and left an indelible imprint on my life. He wanted to make sure I learned the following because they would contribute to success in life:

  • Respect God - Daddy wanted me to know that I didn't get here by accident. That there is Someone much greater than us over the universe.
  • Respect People - He believed that people are the greatest thing God made and that, to the best of my ability, I should treat them that way.
  • Respect Myself - Since I am one of those people, I am to respect myself as well as others.

Although this will be my first Father's Day since he passed away (January of this year), what he taught is still with me and I have fond memories of our times together. Indeed, he made a huge difference in my life.

If you're a daddy, I take this time to wish you a very "Happy Father's Day!" And if your Dad is still with us, I hope you two make fond memories together.

For those of you who are like me, who's Dad has passed on, may your heart warm this Father's Day as you remember the difference he made in your life.

Happy Father's Day to all!
