My Data Science Goals this 2017

I would like to share my resolutions for this year to improve my data science skills, connect better with the community and make the offerings/products I am working on even better.

  • Finish the Self-Driving Udacity Nanodegree: I started this training last December 2016 and it is being awesome. I used for first-time technologies that I always wanted to learn better like Computer Vision (using OpenCV Python Library) or Deep Learning using TensorFlow in AWS GPUs.
  • Write a book about Data Science and Spark: I've been approached by editors a couple of times and always ignored them. This time I decided to do it and together with my friend and colleague Greg Filla we are going to release a book later this year. That will be an incredible learning experience and an opportunity to share our passion with everyone else.
  • One meetup per month: Last year I did several meetups in Chicago, Madrid, Barcelona and Stuttgart. This year I want to continue doing this in different locations and talk about Data Science and Machine Learning. It is an excellent way to connect with the community and learn best practices from other colleagues in the industry...plus...I like free pizza!
  • Continue blogging regularly: I posted several articles last year in the IBM Data Science Experience Blog. I've got very good feedback and I want to continue doing that. We are planning to make the Blog more social so we can continue the conversations there!

By doing this I will make sure that every single new cutting edge Data Science and Machine Learning technique is compatible with our new offerings: IBM Data Science Experience and IBM Watson Machine Learning. We cannot create great products if we are not continuously learning and getting feedback from the community and our clients. If you like what we've done there so far...get ready because the best is yet to come! ;-)

Armand Ruiz, you definitely have to come to France - DSX product rocks - a lot of expectation from customers who have started their data science journey...
