My Covid Diary- Part 1

My Covid Diary- Part 1

We are going thru one of the toughest time of our life so I thought of sharing my experiences around Covid and I hope these are useful to you.

Early detection and Quick treatment- Most of the symptoms of Covid are so mild like- tiredness, fever, cough etc. and we have seen such problems almost every year. Usual tendency is to do self medication and being ignorant. I would say, these 2 things lead to lung infection, breathing difficulty and what not. So my first and foremost advise is to go for quick treatment and faster testing. Never do self treatment, always refer to your doctor before taking any medicine.

Keep everyone updated- Once you are tested positive, do update your friends circle, Society and extended family about this. This solves 2 purposes, one your friends/colleagues/society members will be there to help you and your family will be there to provide moral support to you. You need both of them so don't try to fight it on your own.

Immediate isolation/self quarantine- Do not wait for your RT-PCR report, if you have symptoms, immediately isolate yourself so that you can save your family from catching the infection from you.

Arrange the basics- Irrespective of being covid positive, you should already have one good Oxymeter, vaporiser, digital thermometer, Sugar/BP checking machine (if anyone has these complications). SpO2 level is single most important parameter that tells the severity of this disease so do have these devices in your house.

Have some liquid funds- Due to extra rush or for any other reason, you might not get cashless hospitalisation etc and chances are that you would have to first settle the amount and later claim it. In such cases, you would need good amount of cash on urgent basis. Considering this, it will be wise to keep some liquid money in your bank accounts.

Keep your term insurance/health insurance active- If you have taken term insurance (which you should have) and other health insurance policies then ensure that your policy is Active with no premium due etc. You need to be prepared for all kind of eventualities.

Prevention is best cure- Given the scarcity of all the medical resources, prevention from Covid is the best strategy. Avoid going out at all costs, also do not allow anyone inside your house. Most of the repair work/other things can wait till this bad phase is over. Take necessary steps to boost your immunity.

Stay connected- Keep calling your friends and family to check their health and well being. Mental support is very much required during quarantine period and this is very stressful time. If you know someone who is going thru this, the least you can do is, constantly check about their health and boost their morale.

Health is your 1st priority- In case of any health condition, don't hesitate to keep your job aside to give the required focus on health.

This too shall pass, Be positive. Remember, Darkest hour is just before the dawn so while everything might look extremely bad today but we will soon see the light at the end of the tunnel. Believe in God and never loose hope.

Stay Safe and stay healthy!!!
