My Core !

My Core !

I was clearing my old files, when this 20 year old letter popped up. This letter defines who i grew up as and now looking back it also has been pivotal to my outlook & expectations through out life .

Growing up in communist Kerala of 80s one cant, but avoid being a bit idealistic in nature to an extent of being irritating. In my case, i then ended up doing my law graduation as I thought that’s how you change the world . It was mandatory for everyone to be a NSS ( National Service scheme ) volunteer for the first year of law . I cherished every Saturday activity offered and thanks to the bonding I enjoyed with Prof in-charge Sainath Malligemadu Sir I continued being volunteer for rest of my 4 years . In 5 years I have been to umpteen number of camps staying in schools / colleges & universities and building stuff for them and helping community around . Was regular at an old age home & an orphanage many weekends and did whatever we could think of .?

Also got opportunity to be part of Republic Day parade , arranged legal aid camps , blood donation every quarter , teach at schools etc. When I completed graduation my prof was so convinced that there can’t be anyone else deserving this Best volunteer award from Governor than me and applied for it all by himself .

I wanted to do masters in social work post my law from TISS but couldn’t make it and coincidentally had my GDPI next day after TISS at Symbiosis IMS Pune. Which I got through and landed in the so called capitalist world as per my communist friends ;) . This letter announcing the award got delivered after the award date and my Prof didn’t have a number where he could reach me. As such I don’t have a photo receiving this trophy, that was subsequently picked up. But this journey instilled in me was a responsibility which defines the decision I take in my life and larger part of that now is True Elements .?

Whether it is putting up complete traceability of our products OR having every employee on roll OR arranging a blood donation every quarter ( Personally i have donated blood more than 50 times in my life ) OR being a minimalist in living OR Being TRUE to consumer even at the cost of looking stupid.?

Why i am blabbering all of these here is, we keep making choices through our life some conscious and most unconsciously. If the fundamental core which drives all these are good. Then even if things go wrong you dont feel the load of it. People tell us, most consumers dont bother about what we add and we dont in our products, so why do it.

We do it this way because it matters to us ! It defines our CORE .?
