My conversion rate is REALLY HIGH!

My conversion rate is REALLY HIGH!

The amount of times I hear coaches, consultants and freelancers wear this phrase like a badge of honour.

And if that's you then you are basically kidding yourself into thinking you are good at sales.

Sales and pricing are inextricably linked.

Which means that if your conversion rate is off the charts then it's more than likely that you are way too cheap.

How do I know this?

Well, let's put it this way, if I invited you to treble your prices right now and challenged you to go out there and hit your 80-90% conversion rate again...

...I doubt you could get anywhere near it.

I know this for a number of reasons. For the three false beliefs you have around growing a business...

FALSE BELIEF #1 - You're not as good at sales as you think you are.

Most entrepreneurs mistake a high conversion rate for being good at sales, but in reality their prices are too low. And when faced with raising their prices they will immediately get a fear of rejection.

You'll panic about your existing clients leaving you in droves and kid yourself into thinking no-one will buy your product at a higher price point.

FALSE BELIEF #2 - Having fewer clients is bad for business.

All of the "gooroos" and experts out there are touting the next big marketing thing, whether it's a website, funnel, ads, email, chatbot, and because your prices are too low you kid yourself into thinking you need more clients.

Given three choices I bet you'd rather one of these:

1. Same number of clients, double the revenue.

2. Half the clients, same revenue (same as 1 really!)

3. Half the clients double the revenue.

Fewer clients isn't bad for business, it's great for business if you charge triple the price of your competitors because it gives you more time to deliver a better quality product/service and get better results than your competition.

Therefore it's a false belief that more clients will help your business grow.

FALSE BELIEF #3 - The reward is in the "Yes" and not in the "No".

Every time you get a yes, a little reward bell goes off in your brain and you get a dopamine hit which rewards you and tells you how good a business person you are.

This dopamine hit is addictive, like any drug.

Soon, you start craving more yes's and you hate getting no's.

Even if those yes's are starving your business of time, giving you poor quality clients and maybe even not operating in your prospect's best interests by saying yes when they don't need your services.

A solid conversion rate for me is 1 in 5 going up to 1 in 3. So in percentage terms 20%-33%.

Anything higher than that and it's likely your prices are too low still...

...or...you've learned how to validate your product at a specific price point...maybe you have got better at sales...

...but now you have data to back it up with.

I've created a free training around pricing, this is an exclusive training that won't be available for much longer as it's usually reserved for live keynote presentations which I do.

If you want exclusive access to it just hit me up with a "Pricing" in the COMMENTS below and I'll find a way to drop it into your inbox.
