my controversial personal finance tip????

I don't know who needs to hear this...

But the point of money is: to experience the world.

That's it.

You're investing & and building wealth - so you can experience more of this world in the future.

Not to keep restricting yourself in the name of frugality.

I have a controversial personal finance tip...

It is: Live beyond your means but spend within them.

Meaning...

  • Take your family out on that fancy weekend trip, but you'll have to eat only aloo parathas or idli for the next week.
  • Buy that dream car, but you'll have to walk away from fancy gadgets & and vacations until you've paid off the EMI of your car.
  • Move to that bigger house, but you'll have to cut down on your shopping spree.

My point is, that you can live beyond your means...

But in the end, make sure you are spending within it.

If your budget is 75K/month for example...

You can have 1 or 2 guilty pleasures every month.

As long as you can make up for it by adjusting other expenses.

Your budget needs to stay under 75k and you need to stick to your investment plan.

Everything else can be adjusted.

For example, simply swapping from ordering on Zomato to cooking home food will save you approximately 10k/month.

With this extra cash, you can now afford to take your family out on a fancy luxury dinner, twice every month.

Small shift, but is far more rewarding.

So don't restrict, but adjust.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments...

Good Luck,
