My First Introduction to CrowdPoint & The Mighty Impact of Prayer

Remember when covid hit?

I recall the horror that streamed through me as people masked up, businesses closed, families separated, anger arose among friends, censorship became normal, people lost jobs . . . I felt the walls closing in and I prayed for an answer.

Praying is something most of us do and for various reasons: habit, forgiveness, healing, protection, understanding, or for me, it’s my connection to our creator. I just call it “talking to God”. And the astonishing result of this ritual is that answers always come. Often in ways unexpected: hints, synchronicities, ideas, books, dreams, people, aha moments - it all comes forth in bits and pieces for me to decide whether to take hold or not.

And so it was with CrowdPoint. Through a series of completely unexpected connections, I was introduced to Sean Brehm, his wife, Marlene Brehm, Nadab Akhtar and the CrowdPoint team, which at the time was quite small. Their company was just gaining traction and they were introducing CrowdPoint and inviting a team of us - 1,000 small business owners and entrepreneurs from all over the world - to join them.

I remember the initial presentation, thinking how different these people were . . .

Sean Brehm, CEO, and a brilliant visionary with a background in US Special Ops, strategic intelligence, technology, machine learning, and cyber security; Marlene, his wife, a powerhouse of a woman . . . successful actress, producer, song writer, and one of the early champions in exposing the horrors of child trafficking. Nadab Akhtar, a serial entrepreneur from the time he was 17, with a background in finance and all things related.

There was something very different about this group. They weren’t your typical recruiters and money seekers. This wasn’t about them and intuitively you sensed it. Their vision was so massive as to be absurd and yet I sensed that what they were up to might hold the answer to the pray I had sent out numerous times before.?

They were brilliant, bold, and on a mission to right the wrongs that had accompanied the current system built on the Web 2.0 centralized technology structure that preys, profits, and even asserts controls over you and I. While at the time I didn’t understand the technology, their vision was crystal clear. What they were building - now known as the “Vogon” cloud, would usher in? the next generation of technology - a massive change in the digital world as we know it - one? designed to protect and compensate the human identity: ie - you and me.?

As Brehm first explained to us: All of our activities on the Web drive the financial markets and this all happens surreptitiously in the background without most of us knowing or understanding how it all works. Our google searches, purchases, preferences, and everything we do online is watched, monitored, and used for the profit of others. The “oil” (our personal online data) is “refined” and sold off to benefit others - NOT US. A big ah ha moment for me.?

The move from the current “centralized” technology that provided the platform that had allowed big tech to track and monetize our online activities, and even worse, to censor and pick and choose what we would be allowed to see, was about to change.?

And a group of us, 1,000 strong, jumped in to become part of the CrowdPoint team.
