My Commitment: We Support Those Who Support All of Us

At a time when serving the common good calls for maintaining distance, we feel a profound closeness. There is an incredible amount of connecting to friends and family, to colleagues, to the global community. It is an important moment, and as we look to the coming weeks and months, let’s continue to communicate and hold the spirit of community close.

In this time, we feel closer to the countless individuals typically unseen who, by virtue of showing up and carrying on, deserve tremendous gratitude and recognition. Nurses, doctors, and other medical professionals naturally come to mind, but I also think of grocers restocking shelves, truckers driving produce through the night, and, of course, the farmers who grow it all. They too are precious links in the human value chains holding our communities together in sickness and in health.

As a company whose very purpose and structure was built on connecting farmers and consumers, the responsibility of resolutely facing whatever affects them, adversely or otherwise, is Corteva’s business. And so, from our ground-up perspective as a company active in more than 140 countries, we have been closely monitoring and diligently managing the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak since it really ramped up in January.

Let’s begin with the best news.

During this unprecedented growing season, like every year before, farmers are showing up every day to prepare for planting and, as always, local sales and agronomy teams remain ready to assist our customers.

On the crop protection side, Corteva’s dedicated supply chain and procurement teams are closely monitoring the status of raw material suppliers, production facilities, and fulfillment logistics for all products made in countries impacted by COVID-19. Having a global and diversified supply chain is a major competitive advantage in the best of times, but especially so now.

We are also benefiting immensely from the 24/7, minute-by-minute responsiveness of Corteva’s dedicated Pandemic & Infectious Disease Planning Team, led by our Corporate Medical Director. I want to thank this team for working so hard to ensure our exceptional readiness and minimizing any potentially adverse impacts from this or any other outbreak that could affect our employees and customers.

There is, of course, a long litany of responsive policies we are adopting as a company — from sensible travel and visitor restrictions to flexible work arrangements — but it is the careful steps we take as individuals, I believe, that will ultimately make the greatest difference. So first and foremost, please take every precautionary measure possible to ensure your personal health and safety, and that of everyone around you.

Corteva has the best team in the industry.

Our mission to lead the entire ag community towards better, more sustainable outcomes across the world is more important now than ever. Whatever the distance between us at times, we will continue to show up and carry on the work of supporting the smallest individual farmer as attentively as the largest growing operations.

And to the many thousands of dedicated individuals doing their part to make these efforts possible, know that our Corteva Community is well-connected and here for each of you.

Thanks, Jim. I've heard from a handful of our customers who appreciate you keeping the focus on our employees and ability to keep our customers moving forward. Food chains don't get to take time off...our customers don't get days off...thanks for creating a company that understands the 24/7 demands of agriculture. Pandemics, weather, global politics, mother nature...you name it, agriculture presses on!
