My Code works, so should life.

My Code works, so should life.

In the world of so many uncertainties and randomness, software engineers find coding a very orderly exercise. Unlike life, it is highly predictable and over time you become in control.

Almost like an addiction or like being the God in your own simulation.

As an engineer, so many times we find ourselves asking,

“How wonderful it would be if our life or relationships were like programming, predictable and fun.”

Some people have taken this concept too seriously and they believe uncertainties and randomness can be brought to order by using some algorithms and frameworks.

They spend their life (almost like a scientist in a physics lab) experimenting with their algorithms to bring sanity to their life and to the life of people around them.

These algorithms work for them so many times, leaving them addicted to “solve” life and to find a “one algorithm fits all” solution.

This changes who they are. These experiments change them into cyborgs, whose core is a beautiful human heart but it is abstracted by many algorithms and frameworks which have helped them almost throughout their life.

“My Code works, so should life.”

Don't be that person. Life is beautiful because it is uncertain.

?I was inspired to write this essay while reading a book named "How to cope with difficult people".

Ajay - Many who read this can easily relate to either themselves or personalities that they have come across. Let me introduce you to this beautiful term "delicious ambiguity". "I wanted a perfect ending. Now I have learned, the hard way, that some poems do not rhyme and that some stories have no clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, changing, seizing the moment, and making the most of it, without knowing what will happen next.Delicious ambiguity"- Gilda Radner. Totally agree Life is simply beautiful and worth living with all its uncertainties. Uncertainty is what fills our life with all its flavours - curiosity, opportunity, beauty, excitement and joy. Embrace Uncertainty!
