My City My Health Des Moines Health Equity at Work Panelist: Marcela Hermosillo-Tarin, M.S., SHRM-CP

As we gear up for the highly anticipated My City My Health Conference in Des Moines, we are excited to introduce the panelists who will be sharing their expertise and insights on health equity in the workplace. One of the standout panelists this year is Marcela Hermosillo-Tarin, M.S., SHRM-CP, a seasoned HR leader and community advocate.

Marcela currently serves as the Division Human Resources Director for Arvum Senior Living, an affiliate of Discovery Senior Living—the second-largest senior living operator in the country. With over 15 years of experience in strategic human resources management, Marcela brings a wealth of knowledge and a strategic vision to her role. Her expertise in creating environments that foster excellence, innovation, and team cohesion makes her a key voice in discussions around health equity in the workplace.

A proud alumna of Drake University, where she earned her Master of Science degree, Marcela is not just a leader in her field, but a multi-faceted entrepreneur as well. She co-owns Serenity by Design, a successful remodeling and staging business, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and ability to balance a thriving professional career with her passion for design.

Beyond her professional life, Marcela is dedicated to her community. She actively serves as a board member for organizations like the Association of Talent Development of Central Iowa and the Latina Leadership Initiative, advocating for diversity and leadership development in the workforce. Her contributions have not gone unnoticed—Marcela was honored as a member of the 2023 Business Record's 40 Under 40, a testament to her impact in both the HR space and the broader business community.

Marcela’s leadership is grounded in her belief in the power of cohesive teams to drive transformation in the workplace. This passion aligns perfectly with the goals of the My City My Health initiative, where fostering health equity is as much about creating inclusive workplaces as it is about addressing broader systemic issues. Her SHRM certification further underscores her dedication to continuous learning and development in human resources.

At this year's My City My Health Des Moines Conference, Marcela will contribute to the "Health Equity at Work" panel, where her insights into fostering workplace cultures that promote health and well-being will be invaluable. Attendees can expect to learn about the intersection of human resources, equity, and leadership—and how these elements contribute to healthier, more inclusive work environments.

Marcela balances her professional achievements with her personal life as a devoted mother of two and a supportive wife, exemplifying the grace and dedication she brings to all aspects of her life.

We are honored to have Marcela Hermosillo-Tarin join us at My City My Health, and we look forward to the invaluable contributions she will bring to this year’s conference. Her leadership and dedication to promoting health equity in the workplace are an inspiration to us all.
