My Career Move ??
I’ve always found myself gravitating towards projects that have the potential to easily scale and connect people (with other people, stories, opportunities, and information).
When I was younger, this consisted of a lot of event planning and DJ’ing (School dances, university concerts, college parties, fundraisers, etc.)
As I got older this made me obsessed with the power of social media and how it makes the world so much more connected.
I started off with AOL Instant Messanger, then learned about Myspace, then Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, LinkedIn and so on.
When I was old enough to understand that there were actual people who worked at these companies (I previously had thought it was just one person on a computer with a bunch of numbers on a screen operating a website like the Matrix), I became fixated on working at Snapchat. I was about 19 years old at the time and as a huge social media advocate, I admired how they allowed the average person to tell stories creatively and keep in contact with their friends.
By the time I was 21 and getting ready to graduate college, I became fixated with working at LinkedIn. I loved how they provided people with the information and connections that would help them be successful.
This desire to connect people with opportunities and information eventually, drove me to want to write a book, start a podcast, and share a ton of helpful content on social media over the years.
Content is scalable, translatable, and can be digested in many different formats. Just one piece of content can travel all around the world and help people (by uplifting them, informing them, providing them with a good laugh, etc.)
And today, I’m excited to share the next step in my career which is perfectly aligned with my interests, strengths, and passions.
Next month, I’ll be joining CraveIt as their Director of Growth and Marketing.
Crave It is a social platform for food, recreating how diners order, review, recommend and share the dishes they love. The platform's community merges the social experience that can be found on Instagram with transactional sites like OpenTable and Doordash. This, in turn, creates a one-stop-shop for diners who want a social experience while streamlining the ordering process.
Crave It’s mission is to create community through the shared love and celebration of food.
As cliché as it sounds, this mission is honestly what attracted me most to Crave It.
Especially being a Latino – food is a huge part of my culture.
Food brings people together. Food builds community. Food calls for celebrating. Food makes people happy. Food helps build meaningful relationships.
Now, adding in a social element that allows this magic to scale and you’ve got a one of a kind company.
Huge thanks to Bomani and the Crave It team for the opportunity to join the family.
