If I could offer you only one tip for the future; do what you love would be it. My Career Advice in the Blockchain, Data Science and Machine Learning “Ai. Industry". The advice is mostly from my work experience over the last 33 year in this industry. Don't worry about the future; but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an equation by reading comics. The real troubles in your coding are apt to be things that never crossed your mind. The kind that blindside you at 4pm on Friday when your codes needs to go live on a deadline and nothing is working.
Blockchain, Crypto, Machine Learning and Deep Learning have become buzz words and many people have become experts overnight. Only experience and time will make a difference. Use your imagination, use it every way you can...don't be afraid of it, or what other people think of it, Look at Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and many others that looked into the future and took risks. Your brain and imagination is the greatest instrument you'll ever own.
1. Learn slowly - there are no shortcuts and keep learning. Read the directions, even if you don't follow them. Be careful who you're listening too. Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it.
2. Learn and go deep - because most people are shallow, you need an edge. The most interesting people I know now didn't know what they wanted to do with their lives when they were 22; some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don't. Keep learning.
3. Stay away from scammers or investors that promised the world, ICO’s and SCO’s are not real. There’s no shortcuts and people will try to take advantage of you knowledge. I'm sorry to say it's just hard work and luck most of the time. Luck is success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one's own actions.
4. Be humble - there are always smarter people than you, none of us are that smart and no one likes arrogance or having a sense of one's own importance or abilities. You will not survive in this industry without humility. Do NOT believe the praise people give you they will only make you feel more insecure.
5. Be persistent - you don't know how many times you will fail. Success come from failure you need to keep going.
6. Listen to the right advice - and work with good mentors and good people stay away from idiots.
7. Other skills - you can seldom survive with just ML skill. So learn data structure and programming well too. Mathematics and Logic are also handy tools to learn and master. It takes a lifetime no a 6 week course in Coursera or Edx. these are a good start.
7. This business is brutal so it doesn't hurt to just make a living. Also all jobs teach you something. If you have been working on Blockchain, Machine Learning or IoT for a long time, working on other fields give you new perspective too.
Accept certain inalienable truths, Technology will change, the people sometimes will Philander, you too will get old, and when you do you'll fantasize that when you were young the work and projects were working on the best of times.
8. Learn about $. Or else how do you buy a new Computer, server or GPU card? :)
