My Roles and Goals
As a Technical Director and expert in preclinical pharmacology and trial design, I currently work at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University and spearheading preclinical projects to help drug candidates move towards phase1 trials.
After earning my Ph.D. from India, I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the NCI-NIH (Bethesda-MD), where I focused on the tumor microenvironment, cancer biology, and genetics and received a Fellows Award for Research Excellence. I quickly rose from postdoctoral scientist to Assistant Professor at the Georgia Cancer Center, Augusta- GA. I was selected by the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce as #1 in the Top 10 in 10 Young Professionals to Watch and then by Georgia Trend Magazine's 2017 40 Under 40 – the Best and the Brightest in Georgia.
As a cancer scientist, I have seen tumors grow and the whole process of metastasis in preclinical, experimental studies. I firmly believe that cancer is the most avoidable disease but needs crucial education and community awareness.
I often come across the situation when my friends, their family members, or citizens suffer due to cancer. There is enormous information that science and ancient culture have discovered and need to be disseminated to raise awareness in the community.
When I imagined myself in health education, my responsibility as an individual has changed over the years, and my role has expanded for a more significant cause in the community. I recently started the "AwareOnc" social initiative, aiming to increase cancer awareness among the younger generation and health behavior change in families. I am passionate about healthy habits and believe that educating children and young adults are the only long-term solution to prevent most lifestyle-related diseases such as lung cancer. My recent certification from Yale University encourages me to provide you all the possible ways for the "Health Behavior Change" for better health.?

As a cancer awareness ambassador, I always educate individuals about cancer as the most preventable disease by adapting to a clean environment and changing health behaviors. Here is all the scientific, physiological, and wellness information that every healthy individual and cancer survivor should know as a part of cancer awareness. Citizens are encouraged to learn all the possible ways they can face or inhibit cancer.
Example: Lung Cancer
Since the lung mediates O2-CO2 exchange gaseous purification, the lung should be considered a master organ. The quality of inhalations, whether primary or secondhand smoke, Radon gas, day-to-day air pollution, or accidental exposures to carcinogens, determines lung health, lung function, and lung cancer susceptibility. Also, I encourage individuals to recognize lung cancer symptoms that only they can feel as discomfort. Breathing exercises have tremendous healing if practice routinely as physical activity. For lung function maintenance, whether for a healthy individual, younger or older, or cancer survivor, I encourage individuals to follow breathing exercises as a yoga therapy, evidenced by the clinical trials. Clinical studies have found yoga as a complementary therapy that has healed several citizens and has improved the quality of life. ?Breathing exercises and yoga improve immune function, detoxify the body, and combat stress and anxiety. Yoga is also instrumental in reducing treatment side effects, such as decreasing fatigue, stress, and constipation. Yoga-based exercises keep oxygen flowing and helping in managing the side effects of cancer treatments. Other forms of moderate to low physical activities with breathing involvement can elevate mood, decrease stress and depression, increase the endorphins, and improve the sleeping pattern.
?We may need more cancer awareness ambassadors due to the increasing incidence and burden, especially for the next generation. At the same time, individuals facing cancer should be educated about the developments in immune therapies and successes.
My Regional Cancer Awareness Activities
Nextdoor (My profile): I have been utilizing the "Nextdoor" social medium to connect with individuals around my city of Suwanee in Georgia state. I believe health needs local focus before translating the benefits to the global community. Here are my group administrator and moderator activities on Nextdoor.
I started this Nextdoor group in 2020. We have a total of 82 members in this group. My role is to routinely post health messages to educate about wellness, cancer risk factors, healthy habit & health behavior changes.
I started this Nextdoor group in 2020. We have a total of 22 cancer survivors, including 2 lung cancer adenocarcinomas. My role is to routinely post health messages to educate about wellness, risk modifying factors, healthy habits & health behavior changes for cancer survivors.
I love to connect with cancer survivors and always guided several individuals in all my capacities. I asked them to adopt a Vegetarian, Mediterranean,?or Vegan diet, exercise, meditation & yoga, which are the proven and evidence-based healing determinants. I explain to them why cancer survivors are at a greater risk for subsequent malignancies.
We have a total of 23 members who participate every Saturday morning in fun physical activity via an English Sport called "Cricket." Along with my group members, I believe that physical activity can benefit overall health, including lung capacity & function.

I am always available during the weekend to catch up with the individuals who require any help and guiding them to the right person in the medical community. For example, one last month, I came across one lung cancer patient and another gastric cancer patient. I guided them to the specialists in the Winship Cancer Institute at Georgia.
