My British Mum just left the world

I went to visit you at home this afternoon since you’d just gotten out of the hospital.

I was totally shocked that today became the last time I could meet you.?

I held your hands saying “I love you, Ruth.”?

I felt you move your hands closer to me, and saw your face turn towards me.

I think you heard me, and knew I was there, but your reply was difficult to understand.

16 days ago, I visited you at a hospital in London. You said “Life is beautiful, and we need to appreciate everything that happened in our life” with a warm smile.?

You were trying to make me feel better when I was crying so much.?

You were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer two months ago. At the point which your disease was discovered, the doctors decided that no known treatments would be effective.?

We had lots of happy times…?

We made bolognese together because you wanted to show me that cooking nice and healthy food doesn’t take long…?

You always packed my favourite foods for me to eat on the way back to Cardiff…?

You made sweet chilli jam for me, and I still have it in the fridge.?

You and Brian took care of me when I was sick, and always asked me to come to your house…? saying that it’s my second home in the UK.?

I attended your Golden Wedding Anniversary.?

Because of you, I started appreciating the beauty of life and I did not feel alone here.?

Maybe you still live in the world but in another way?
