My Braver Path
When Zayo invited me to participate in "The Bravest Path" leadership programme, I was secretly hoping that Bethan, Emily and the team would transform me at the wave of a magic wand…. I believed that I needed to undertake some kind of significant transformation to "become" a Leader.??
During the programme there have been a series of light bulb moments over the last 6 months, I have met so many amazing ladies and I have laughed, cried, cringed and raised my eyebrows in surprise but most often I have felt inspired.
Here are my key takeaways:
Who I am is how I lead: my personality, my motivations and my values are unique to me, they cannot be faked, they don’t need to be “performed” and they can shine brightly if I choose to let them show
My Inner Critic doesn’t define me: my inner critic is not a scary wicked stepmother but is a voice fighting to protect my values and to keep me on course
To take action and find someone to help me when I need a hand: the journey forward is an amazing adventure and one that is so enriching when shared with others
I am proud of what I have achieved over these last 6 months during this programme, of the steps I have taken to test new approaches and to encourage my peers to do the same.
I now know that I don’t need a magic wand and ballgown to "transform" myself into a Leader (and that fluffy slippers are so much more comfortable than glass slippers when working from home during a pandemic).
No, I do not need to transform into something else, I am now committed to showing more of who I truly am.
