My Body Belongs To Me

My Body Belongs To Me

By Michael Solomon, 10x Management Co-Founder

The recent wave of sexual assault and abuse allegations in America is beyond sad. People in power abusing that power and suppressing the voices of the abused reminds us all that we have a sacred duty to protect ourselves and those that cannot protect themselves.

In 2013, in conjunction with our talented clients, we produced an animated short based on the book of the same name entitled “My Body Belongs To Me,” about the importance of children speaking up if anyone ever touches them in a way that makes them uncomfortable. It applies to people of all ages. The best way to root out sexual abuse is to expose those who are responsible for committing such heinous acts and hold them accountable for their actions in the American justice system. It is also imperative that we treat survivors of abuse with the dignity and respect that reflects our humanity.

It was as important in 2013 as it is now as it has ALWAYS been. In light of this video approaching its 5th anniversary, nearing a half a million views, and the growth of the #MeToo movement, I can think of no better time to refocus the spotlight on the film today. With that in mind, I thought I would share the video again. Please watch, share, and spread the word.

Just beautiful Michael. I'll be sharing with my little ones. Thank-you. Hope all's well. x Lisa B

Michael- Great job! Poignant and Effective-having a child narrate makes it more relatable for kids. Question: What if it’s a parent or teacher who is the abuser?

Words. They are failing me right now. Watched the video. It's fantastic. Does a great job sharing complicated information with kids in a way that they will understand (mazel to the writer) But so so sad... that the video and story are necessary. in 2018 much less when we were growing up and long before. But it is amazing that technology today can help parents communicate with their kids so that they can be safe.
