Queen Charlotte, wife of the English King George III (1738-1820), was directly descended from Margarita de Castro y Sousa, a black branch of the Portuguese Royal House.

This is a great article that ran today although it does not include Queen Philippa as being the first Black Queen but rather Queen Charlotte. As often is the case facts are disputed even in this article.
