Great piece this morning by Mark Rainey in the Newsletter, the oldest English language general daily newspaper still in publication. It charts my battle to lift the profile of Belfast born and bred film director Brian Desmond Hurst and his films including the brilliant Scrooge (1951- released in the USA as A Christmas Carol) and starring Alistair Sim; Malta Story with the ultimate headline cast of Alec Guinness and Jack Hawkins and Tom Browns Schooldays. Add in Lawrence of Arabia in 1938 that was put on ice but compensated by 27 other films made in three continents over four decades and you have a man that deserves his place in Belfast's history. By the way if anyone was has Brian's Picasso that is mentioned in the article please just get in touch and I'll make sure it's looked after!
