My Back Story
My life has always been on the move when I look back at it. I spent the first 7yrs of my life living in a small mining town called Shay Gap in Western Australia, which has since been demolished. We moved on to Perth where lived in 5 different homes and I was the new kid at 3 different schools.
I met this handsome man in the photo when I was 16yrs old on a trip to Egypt and he has been in my life ever since, so my backstory is strongly linked to him and the life we have built together.
At the age of 20 I boarded a flight from my hometown Perth, Australia to go to Egypt ‘for a few months’…. little did I know that this trip will change my life forever with an engagement and marriage! 23yrs, 7 countries and 14 homes later, my husband Haitham and I have built a life together on the move and had 4 kids along the way. It has been a journey, a life journey that has challenged me in so many ways yet has deeply enriched me.
I was young and quite naive when our expat life started, I had much to learn!! My feet have touched and my eyes have seen so many places around the world, my hands have packed countless bags and boxes, my tongue has tasted different cuisines, my nose has smelt some rather interesting aromas…all of my senses have been on a journey with me. My soul has been touched by people and my mind has been enriched by culture.
My back story is one of growth and I know I will continue to grow!
Today we live in Dubai, UAE where I have established Coffee with an Expat, which has grown into a social and support networking platform for expats locally and globally online through the Coffee with Expat Women FB group. This has become my passion, one that I love and is close to my heart because of the expat life that I have lived. Connecting with you and knowing your story enriches me even more - so if you like, share something about you in the comments!!

3 年What an amazing life and story. We spoke on the phone years ago when Haitham was my manager at London, and I remember you made me laugh, when I needed to speak to him. You obviously have more adventures still to come with each other, Coffee with an Expat is an wonderful idea for women all over. Good luck to you both ??????????
