My Adventure to Costa Rica

My journey to Costa Rica began in Liberia. The border officers were very strict and they even ask return flight tickets to land border travellers. I then moved to Puntarenas, where I was greeted by the vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes. It was a relaxing moment to work on my book and my work. From there, I spent two days in San Jose, exploring the bustling city before heading to Jaco, Quepos, and finally, Paso Canoas.

Day 1: Liberia and Puntarenas

Upon arrival in Liberia and Puntarenas, I was immediately captivated by the lush vegetation and the warm, inviting friendly atmosphere. I began my adventure by visiting the nearby beaches, where I was able to relax and take in the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. I worked as much as I could until the sunset over the horizon was truly a sight to behold.

Day 2: San Jose

After a day in Liberia and Puntarenas, I continued my journey to San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica. San Jose offered a mix of modern and traditional experiences, with museums, galleries, and historical sites to explore. The place I stayed was within walking distance of the city centre. I searched for a patisserie shop where local people were going. I then found one and had coffee and a cake. The local food was also amazing. I spent two days here, learning about the country’s history and culture, and immersing myself in the local cuisine.

Day 3: Jaco

Next, I headed to Jaco, a popular beach town on the Central Pacific coast. Known for its beautiful beaches and lively nightlife, Jaco was the perfect place to do some work on my laptop, unwind and enjoy some downtime. I spent my days surfing, exploring the nearby rainforests, and visiting the local markets to purchase souvenirs.

Day 4: Quepos

From Jaco, I travelled to Quepos, a small coastal town with a laid-back atmosphere. Quepos is known for its excellent fishing and as the gateway to Manuel Antonio National Park. After doing my work early in the morning, I spent a day exploring the park’s diverse wildlife, including monkeys, sloths, various bird species and some unidentified animals. This park was huge and the views were so amazing. The park’s pristine beaches provide a picturesque setting for a relaxing afternoon or a work on the beach.

Day 5: Paso Canoas

My final stop on this journey was Paso Canoas, a border town situated near the Panama border. I had to wait as the cash machines were not working at night and it was nearly midnight. I could see so many people going in the opposite direction. After speaking to some of the people, I asked where were they from. They told me that they were from Venezuela and they were planning to go to Costa Rica and from there they intend to go to the USA to start a new life there. I was quite shocked by the number of people who were waiting there early midnight.

Early in the morning, I then cross into Panama to experience a new culture and gain a deeper understanding of the region’s history. While in Paso Canoas, I visited local markets and learned about the customs and traditions of the people living in this unique area.

In conclusion, my journey to Costa Rica was filled with unforgettable experiences, from the stunning landscapes of Puntarenas to the vibrant culture of San Jose, Jaco, Quepos, and Paso Canoas. Each destination offered a different perspective on Costa Rican life, making this trip a truly enriching experience. It was a journey I probably will remember all my life. Now it was time to go to Panama.
