My 6 Easy Ways To Get Rid Of Burning Out Instantly

My 6 Easy Ways To Get Rid Of Burning Out Instantly

In 2018, I got tired of being a senior account manager at a big Los Angeles firm.

I was thinking of leaving my job and starting my own digital solutions company.

And I already started working on that in the back end.

This was the time when I had to work for 15 hours a day.

And this is when burnout happens.

Here are six things I did to get back on track, and they can help you too.

My 6 easy ways to get rid of burning out

  • Set strict rules
  • Get enough rest.
  • Every day, take breaks.
  • Sort your chores into groups.
  • Work out first thing in the morning?
  • Get help and take some time for yourself

1. Make Strict Rules

It's easy to get burned out if you try to please everyone, which is how I am by nature.

I hired a Virtual Assistant and later on a designated project manager to look over some important stuff and keep track of everything.

By cutting down on meetings, talks, and other things that kept me busy, I've had more time for myself and my family.

You can learn more about how to say "NO" to more things in Pat Walls' great book called How to Say No.

2. Get Enough Rest

Since 2020, I've been going to bed at 9:30 or 10 p.m. and waking up at 6 a.m.

As an adult, I need 8 hours of sleep every night. When I was 30, I could get by with 6 hours.

I think getting enough sleep is the most important thing I can do to keep from getting burned out.

Every night, it takes me less than 15 minutes to fall asleep with a method called 4-7-8. I really think you should check it out.

3. Take Breaks Throughout The Day

The first thing I did when I got back in 2019 was add breaks to my calendar. It was important to me to take breaks during the day to rest and get back to work.

These days, I plan 15- or 30-minute breaks between all of my talks and work sessions.

I don't have to stare at the computer screen for 8 hours straight, which makes me feel better.

Don't book meetings right after each other if you haven't already. This will help you avoid getting too tired.

4. Sort Chores Into Groups

What is the most important thing you need to do for your business?

Really, really important?

Be honest with yourself: get rid of, simplify, automate, or give other people the work that doesn't really move the needle (20%).

This is very important if you want to avoid stress and still get work done quickly.

5. Work Out In The Morning

I either go for a 90-minute walk with my wife every morning or use the bike or exercise machine at my local gym for any length of time.

I really need this "incubator" time, where thoughts just pop into my head. It also keeps me in shape and gives me a lot of energy.

Working out in the morning sets a good mood for the day and helps me make better decisions throughout the day.

Make something to bake in the morning if you have the time. It will help you start the day off right.

6. Get Help And Take Some Time For Yourself

Don't be afraid to ask friends, family, and co-workers for help.

It's really hard to be an entrepreneur or solopreneur.

You need family and friends with whom you can be honest and open, as well as a group of smart peers who can tell you when you're working too hard.

Find some people who are going through the same thing as you and start a Slack or Discord group with them so you can hold each other responsible and get the help you need.

Okay, that's it.

I hope that things like this help you.

Have a great week ahead.
