My 5th Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer Fundraising Campaign - 09/23/2017

Nearly 1 in 2 Canadians will be told in their lifetime "You have cancer". That is a staggering statistic. Perhaps like me, you know someone that has heard these words from their doctor. Maybe like me, you have lost a friend, close family member or colleague to this terrible disease. 

Because I have lost people to cancer, I spend my days working to raise funds in support of one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world. Through the core program I oversee "Golf to Conquer Cancer", over $4.7 Million has been raised in just four years. I am also fortunate to work on the country's leading charitable lottery that last year raised over $26 Million for Princess Margaret!

So while it is pretty easy to come to work every day, knowing that I can play a small part in achieving our mission - to conquer cancer in our lifetime, I am writing to you today to ask for your help, and give you an opportunity to also play a role in conquering cancer.

Beyond my work, I take great pleasure in participating in many of our grassroots fundraising events. To celebrate my birthday week each year, I spend the day with work colleagues and friends playing in SCOTIABANK? ROAD HOCKEY TO CONQUER CANCER 2017 (this year on September 23, 2017) .

So this is where you come in, where you can join the team and make a difference...

Some of you have already stepped up to help. Thanks to early donors (you know who you are and I appreciate your support) I already raised my original fundraising goal! Most / all of these people are long time donors and I appreciate you stepping up "in the first period".

It is now nearing the start of the "third period of play" and in order to participate in SCOTIABANK? ROAD HOCKEY TO CONQUER CANCER I've agreed to help my team raise as much as possible for ground breaking cancer research and treatment. I've increased my personal fundraising goal to $2,000.00 CAD, because I think the work The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is doing is so crucial. That is also why I am asking my professional network to support in helping me reach or exceed my personal goal amount.
