Being adaptable to various conditions is important for us to keep up with the fast-changing world. From the adaptability and resilience class at Bangkit Academy led by Google, Tokopedia, Gojek, & Traveloka , one thing that I learned is that there are 5 things that we need to adapt in a workplace, which consist of Ways of Interacting, Ways of Achieving, Ways of Learning, Ways of Working, and Ways of Thinking. I am Hendra, and in this post, I want to share my personal experience regarding these 5 things while participating in this edition of the Bangkit program.
Ways of Interacting
As a person whose people around often use Indonesian or Javanese for speaking, at first it was hard for me to have conversations in English confidently. But, with this kind of study environment designed by the Bangkit team, which encourages me as a participant to use English as the main language, slowly I gain confidence in using this language for day-to-day conversation.
Ways of Achieving
The designed curriculum here changed the way I set my goals. Previously, when I set a goal, I'd rather choose to go straight for it. But, often times I lost my motivation in the middle, which leads me to stop pursuing my goal. However, with this type of deadline here, I've adapted to break down big things into smaller ones first, then work on each of those smaller things. That way, I can have more enjoyment of work so that my motivation on pursuing the goal is maintained.
Ways of Learning
The learning method tailored by the Bangkit team really encourages me to learn in a more organized way. This is because in order to get the most from the courses and finish all of the tasks on time, I must always demonstrate a high discipline level. Furthermore, the Bangkit environment that upholds the safe place to learn principle really gives me a confident feeling to also actively participate in class discussions, something that I rarely got in the past before joining this program.

Ways of Working
The rules and tight schedules in this program make me able to create better working culture. I'm getting more organized in managing my tasks and time with the help of supporting tools like Google Calendar. Besides that, now I can be more consistent to show the right ethics when working. One example would be when in online meetings, I always try to come on time, turn my camera on, have a proper appearance, pay full attention just to the meetings, and actively participate in the discussions.
Ways of Thinking
With the great learning environment here, I can adapt more to the growth mindset. The reason actually relates to the safe place to learn principle mentioned above. I always say to myself first that "It's okay to just give it a try first, then use the result as experience for growing even better next time" before deciding to try to be active in various activities inside this program. I feel that the environment at Bangkit is the right complement because it can give me free space to continuously adapt to this mindset.
Conclusion
That's my personal experience regarding the adaptations that I implemented upon joining this Bangkit program. Hopefully, this article can inspire us to be encouraged to improve our adaptability so that we can face the fast-changing world with a high confidence level. Thanks for reading!
