My 4 Year "Beanniversary"?

My 4 Year "Beanniversary"

A few days ago, my calendar reminder popped up, to gently remind me of my impending 4 year “Beanniversary”.

Before I share a few thoughts on my journey with Student Beans to date, I am sitting here on a chilly Saturday morning, contemplating on what has been a truly exceptional week.

To say that Student Beans has started 2019 with an almighty “BANG”, is a phenomenal understatement.

It’s been a full on, adrenaline filled, roller coaster of excitement this week, culminating in signed contracts from a variety of the world’s biggest e-commerce retailers.

There’s definitely more to share on this exciting news to come, but for now, back to the topic in hand.

My First 4 Years

When thinking about what I was going to write here, the first thing that sprang to mind was how time has passed in the blink of an eye. It doesn’t seem like 5 minutes ago since my first day, walking into our offices in North London and being introduced to people from across the business.

If anything, for me, this is an extraordinarily clear indication that I love what I do. I mean, it’s easy to slip into a job and over time, dread those Monday mornings, that commute to your place of work or just simply not feeling sufficiently satisfied by what you do.

But this is 100% the opposite of my experience, and I’m so very thankful for what has turned out to be a truly wonderful adventure.

My position has changed significantly since I joined in January 2015, and it's provided me with a number of opportunities which hadn't formed part of my initial remit. These have included, working directly with leading brands, forging relationships with international affiliate networks & agencies, business travel (nationally and internationally), and working closely with our UK and international teams.

The most satisfying aspect of my role, is the work we do with leading national and international brands, specifically to help them run their student acquisition campaigns.

There isn't a shopping area, or high street that we don't recognise a brand we're working with, and that's an incredibly emotive feeling of accomplishment.

I’ve worked with and forged business relationships with brands such as River Island, AllSaints, McDonald’s, & Other Stories, Boohoo, KFC, HP, Samsung, Carphone Warehouse, GANT, OnePlus and many more.

I continue to work with a fabulous team, each and every one committed to deliver a work class service.

This year we will work with more brands than ever this year, offering “student discount awesomeness” to more students and “Empowering Young People to Thrive”.

So, for now, here's to looking forward to 2019, growing our business and continued adventures.
