My 3R's. Embody them.

My 3R's. Embody them.

I brainstormed my 3R's for successful LinkedIn branding, and networking with great thought leadership posts, to be remembered for being professionally "amazing-er" than the competition.

(Yup, I made up that A word!)

Turns out, some of my best thoughts come subconsciously in the car, but need to be written down so I don't lose them. So I turned off at a rest stop to scribble just 3 words.

I propose one, two, or better yet, all three, for anyone aspiring to be a recognized thought leader among peers in their field, and/or who firmly believe LinkedIn is a valuable place to "network up" outside it:

  • Relevant: be in the moment, in a tumultuous world, or risk losing the importance of your thoughts in a snowstorm of piling snowflakes. Choose the wording of your "why" as self-branding on your LinkedIn profile and compose posts for all to see what's-in-it-for-them, not you. Yes, be a timely source, but be resourceful all the time for others. They may tap into you once, but they must want to again taste more of your secret sauce, so it becomes habit-forming, enough to follow your thought leadership regularly to purchase your product/service.
  • Reliable: ensure the source of article you are sharing is highly reputable, with your cogent commentary on top of it, thoughtful and gained from experience and in-the-trenches education. Laser-focus the reader why you thought enough to bother to post it and why they should bother to read and evaluate it. They recognize thought leadership, only if it is routinely high quality and worthy of sharing with others in their collaborative circles. The word "reliable" is highlighted in yellow above because it is the hardest to routinely perfect. If you practice being relevant, reliability comes with time and effort.
  • Referable: this is the goal, right? There's no better compliment than for one professional to put their reputation on the line to another by introducing you. Accordingly, the sum of your past experience rolling into your skillset today is put on display. You multitask and strive to please the introducer, the introducee, and yourself: cerebrally, and emotionally. You know you can achieve this warm glow, as your relevance and reliability are proven. Extend yourself quickly (relevance), research to ensure a great conversation (reliability) and let the conversation flow.

Relevance. Reliability. Referability. These 3 words hang on my wall and I hope they will remind you what you can achieve when you embody them and give more than you get. Nourish to flourish.

Well said. Definitely agree with the three R's and with writing an idea down right away (sometimes in the middle of the night).

These are three great words to help you not only here on LinkedIn, but in all of life. They do take some work and time to really become habitual.

I noticed that those who already embody these principles are some of the best networkers !
