My 3 Observations About Unlocking Talent

My 3 Observations About Unlocking Talent

Incredibly today is exactly 1 month since I joined The Smarty Train (TST) as Managing Director. Time really does fly when you’re working hard and having fun!

Over the last 12 years I have worked for global businesses such as Deloitte and EY, as well as being Group CFO for a listed recruitment business, so my expectations have always been set high. TST has exceeded all my expectations.

Here’s why.

1.      I work in an organisation that is Obsessive about Unlocking Talent

And we’re good at it too. I’m inspired by how far we go here to understand people at work and how we help everybody be the best they can be. From training to experiences, research to advisory, we’ve ripped up the rule book on talent. We have explosive methods that ensure our clients get the best out of their people 24/7, because everyone has talent to unlock. It’s great to go work every day knowing I’m helping a serious cause.

2.      I work with an Exceptional Team

Between us we speak 13 languages, hold 24 degrees/professional qualifications, play 5 musical instruments and own 2 dogs. We have a high performing culture but still have fun at the same time…… in my first four weeks at TST I have learnt how to bake a chocolate cake in a mug, how to trade in foreign currency at the push of a button and was introduced to Alexa. These tid-bits have come from TST’s weekly ‘Random Act of Sharing’ in our weekly team meeting, where someone shares something with the team.

3.      I work with Exceptional Clients

I’m inspired by just how far our clients go to become exceptional at attracting, retaining and developing their talent. Whether a regional law firm, a university or a global professional service firm, it all hinges on people.

People. People. People.
