My 2025 New Year's Resolution for Water
Dear Subscribers, Happy New Year and wishing you the best for 2025!
As we embark on this new year, the tradition of making resolutions offers us a chance to reflect and commit to meaningful change. The word “resolution” traces its roots to the Latin resolutio, meaning “a breaking into parts,” and resolvere, “to loosen, release, or explain.” Originally, it referred to simplifying complex problems, a concept that resonates deeply with modern aspirations to address life’s challenges with clarity and purpose. The phrase “New Year’s resolution” first appeared in an 1813 Boston newspaper, marking the beginning of a cultural tradition that encourages us to solve problems and make firm decisions.
This year, I am focusing my resolution on one of humanity’s most pressing challenges: water. Water sustains life, shapes our ecosystems, and defines our future. With this commitment, I aim to bring sharper focus and greater impact to water stewardship in 2025.?
For me, the word “resolution” also embodies the quality of being determined or resolute. As a fan of the Golden State Warriors, I’ve noticed broadcasters Bob Fitzgerald and Kelenna Azubuike frequently use the term “resolute” during games to describe a player’s perseverance and focus. That spirit of determination inspires me to bring the same resolve to tackling water challenges in the year ahead.
In 2025, I commit to achieving a better resolution for water in all its meanings:
????? 1. Clarity (Optics): I will strive to enhance the clarity of global water challenges, making complex issues more transparent and understandable for individuals and industries alike through storytelling, advocacy, and education.

????? 2. Determination (Commitment): I resolve to continue championing innovative water management solutions, helping industries, communities, and policymakers address water scarcity, quality, and accessibility.
????? 3. Detail (Precision): I will focus on sharpening the details of water treatment technologies, ensuring solutions are as effective and efficient as possible.
????? 4. Conflict (Problem-Solving): I will work toward resolving conflicts surrounding water usage and allocation by fostering collaboration and mutual understanding between stakeholders.
????? 5. Yearly Goals (New Year’s Resolution): I pledge to make measurable progress in advancing sustainable water practices globally, whether through podcasts, articles, or on-the-ground initiatives.
Water deserves our clearest focus and greatest commitment. Let’s bring it into sharper resolution, one drop at a time.

1 个月How about starting 2025 by identifying the best songs and lyrics about water? I'll start with "Water of Love"by Dire Straits (great guitar riffs too!). Water of love deep in the ground But there ain't no water here to be found Some day baby when the river runs free It's gonna carry that water of love to me Have a great 2025 Jim!
