My 2020 Mantra
We will be shortly stepping into 2020. As we move ahead, our roles and responsibilities keep becoming more stringent. Beyond just hard work, it would be performance that would emerge as the key for success in the coming years. Your success will depend more on how you think and how you convert your thoughts into actions.
The following five factors matter the most, in this regard:
Progressive Thinking
You need to carry positivity in you. This positivity is the energy that will help you to cross all hurdles. Many people surrender to their daily problems and accept defeat. Progressive people see no dead-ends. They keep finding ways to move ahead. Challenges are part of all success stories. You could find solutions only when you think positive. If you don’t believe there is a solution to a problem, then of course you will not come up with solutions, and life will keep getting harder.
You should discuss on multiple solution options to choose the right one. But no one today is interested in paying attention to other peoples’ problems. In addition, leg pullers are everywhere. They don’t let other people be successful. Such people neither get success nor do they allow others to succeed. Don’t be part of this group. If you want to be successful, then you should spend time with people who can support you in achieving your dreams. So, work together and share the success.
Out of the Box Ideas
The traditional nature of work will come to an end soon. Continuous development and testing in any project will overtake traditional working methods. People who can think out of box would be in demand for any team. They are innovators who perpetually add value to any project or team. In certain cases, I have seen such people punished just because they did not follow a pre-defined methodology. They did not gain much respect in the team because they didn’t follow the idea of their managers. They got side-lined because they came up with new ideas and their managers were not ready to adopt the changes.
People who want to be in a comfort zone are normally labelled as the traditional workers. Very soon, they would end up being back benchers and would slowly be eliminated from the system. Being a progressive person, you must continuously think about improving your performance. You should challenge yourself and defeat yourself every day. Bring changes to the system to put yourself in a progressive path. Discuss and adopt better ideas and be in the good book of your managers. This would help you prosper in 2020.
Brainstorming Sessions
Brainstorming sessions will increasingly become part of any organization’s progress. You should look forward to participating in brainstorming sessions. Innovative ideas / Artificial Intelligence / Machine learning would all play major roles for any successful project execution. These things will replace the so-called traditional SOP in defining performance. These changes will be inevitable and essential for all projects.
As humans, we are creatures of habit and most of us follow routine processes. Thinking out of the box could be challenging, since we are not open to changes easily. Similarly, organizations also avoid risks often, and believe that it might negatively impact their profits. However, despite the fears of failure, risks are essential for growth.
Many people believe that artificial intelligence / machine learning will replace human thinking. This is not correct. Intelligence always comes from a human brain, and intelligent people will continue to be in demand. So, you need to always think how you can do better, what could be done differently to improve performance. By doing so, you will try to apply your brain more, and your ideas will take the shape up to provide you new ways of working.
You need to have regular brain storming sessions. You need to encourage your workforce to take part in those brain storming sessions. There is nothing that separates juniors from seniors in a brainstorming session. You need to conduct different programs where you can identify talents and take the ideas and feedback of your workforce. Transparency is important in an organization and managers need to be open for discussions.
Adopt Changes
Organization who adopt changes are definitely in the growth path. Changes could be risky, but right changes are progressive. Change ideas will come from innovative and talented people. Intelligent managers choose the right change and select people with better aptitude, in their teams.
Only confident people adopt changes and believe in them. Be confident on your part and help others in being confident while making decisions.
Quick Implementation
When you adopt to change, you should also ensure that your workforce has no problems in adopting the changes. Changes could be a new technology, new process or a new idea. Before adopting to change and applying it, you need to check how it would help you to achieve your goals. The implementation should be carried out as a strategic process.
When change is implemented, it should go to the people with a clear agenda. You need to plan the training for their learning and explain how it would benefit people personally, professionally and also the help achieve the overall organizational goals. People adopt the changes easily when they understand the benefit of it. Thus, implementation of changes would be easier. Once the change is implemented it should be monitored. Feedback should be given and taken periodically, so that improvements could be made. Also, it should be explained to people how changes will affect the organization positively and things becoming easier in the long run.
Keep planning workshops and encouraging people to come up with innovations. They should be open to new technologies and be able to invent ways to take the technology to their work.
