My 2018

2018 was an incredible year of ups and downs, highs and lows but that’s not surprising to me. Every year has the good mixed in with the bad, the challenges and the strokes of “luck” happening all the time. 

Add to that the fact I have an incredible family around me; a dependable brother, a patient & loving mother, two wonderful daughters that surprise me every day and the most AMAZING wife/best friend a man could ask for.

I keep hearing how “bad” 2018 was and that people are glad for the new year…a fresh start. I get that. Sad and terrible things have happened to friends this past year.

Bad and good happen all around us, it’s what we choose to focus on that determines if we’re happy or not. 

I’m not talking about putting blinders on to ignore the world and live in a place full of only unicorns and rainbows. But when you listen to nothing but bad news, other people’s opinions (instead of forming your own) and ignore all the joy that is around us…well then, no wonder your year sucked!

My motto for 2019 is this:

Instead of letting my life happen TO me I am going to make it happen FOR me!

2019 is going to be a great year, because I am going to MAKE it great. I am. Not the government, not our President, not my friends or even my family. Yes, I will take all the support and help I can from any and all, but when it comes right down to it; my success or my failure is all my fault.

So, with the help of God and the gifts He’s given me (family, friends, talents, drive) I refuse live in the status quo, but instead vow to make 2019 a better year for me, my family, my friends and everyone I meet.
