As the current year bids adieu and finds its place in its archives, it is time to express gratitude to a ‘different’ span of twelve months (four days are still left for completion). I will choose to go for the nomenclature of ‘different’ over ‘difficult’ and ‘disturbing’ because the year has taught me a lot and one thing that remains at the top is to stay in a positive frame of mind. As I walk down my memory lane for a timeline of last twelve months, I sum up my experience in my below mentioned ten lessons -
1. ‘Pratham Sukh, Nirogi Kaya’ – As per the seven sutras of happiness given by our ancestors, the first one says that having a fit body is the greatest bliss and this year couldn’t have given us a better reason to believe it. Work on it!
2. The clichéd statement of giving quality time to one’s family has little significance. Both, quantity and quality matters when one needs to give time to one’s family. Do it!
3. It is your family that accommodates and supports you whether you work from home or work outside home. Value it!
4. ‘Less is more’ overrules the much hyped ‘more is less’. Even with lesser things around, the happiness can be more. Nature has its own ways to make us realize the value of things that we never valued. Cherish it!
5. There is still nothing better than sharing empathy and kindness with people around you and everywhere else. Nothing else matters!
6. The real superheroes don’t wear stylish capes or have superhuman powers; they are ordinary people like us but are committed to perform their duties against all odds. The unsung heroes, most of them whom we choose to ignore or discard became the warriors to fight the fiercest war with all their might to save us. Respect!
7. For many, the battle is between human lives and human livelihood and for those; hunger is far more lethal than any virus. One needs to be sensitized to their needs and subsequent actions. Be considerate!
8. Life is doomed when it is lived on credit. Living life on Easy Monthly Installments (EMI) will only make it difficult for years to come. Live humble, live content. Simple!
9. Crisis cites the courage and character of an individual. Irrespective of the mutations in the challenges, the certitude to face them remains immutable. Stand up!
10. And finally, it is all about HOPE, we all hope for hope, the hope for a better tomorrow, the hope for a better future. No exclamation is required for hope, for hope becomes an exclamation when it ties up with anything.
To 2021 - Welcome! :)
