MVP’s new CEO to implement an improved strategic direction
Mamoní Valley Preserve
The Mamoní Valley Preserve is a 5,000-hectare land conservancy in one of the top 25 Biodiversity Hotspots in the world.
Remember this name: Ailene De Icaza Ordas. She’s the newly appointed CEO of Mamoní Valley Preserve.?
With an extensive business experience, Ailene will be working closely with MVP’s Board of Directors to implement an improved strategic direction, which will include among other things, overseeing Mamoni’s conservation efforts to safeguard biodiversity at the reserve, develop conservation and fundraising strategies to secure the company's long-term sustainability, and ensure people are aware of Mamoní Valley Preserve.
"Not a lot of Panamanians know about MVP”, she explains. “There’s a big opportunity for us to really communicate to people the treasure that we have here. The Reserve is so important not only to us, but for America and the rest of the world, and it’s rich in biodiversity, so we want people to understand why it’s important to protect it".
Ailene says another key part of her current role will be to forge alliances with local people and indigenous groups, ensuring MVP's work is culturally sensitive and involves these active community members on every level.?
"Our relationship with the community is very important and is core to ensuring the future of our reserve. We want to foster trust and support within the community, and to show people that the Reserve can have a positive impact on their lives", she says.
Ailene De Icaza Ordas, says working with young people is also imperative to MVP's mission. "We want to work with schools so that children from a young age, and that are the future, understand how important it is to protect the Reserve and the world at the same time".
