MVA Welcomes a new Education & Outreach Coordinator
MVA Board is happy to welcome Prof. Alessandro Bartoloni as the new Education & Outreach Coordinator
Alessandro Bartoloni, after earning his MSc in electronics engineering, joined the Roma Sapienza Division of the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics in 1992, working on developing supercomputers for theoretical physics numerical simulations. Later, he joined CERN as a user associate where he took part in constructing the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This experiment observed in 2012 a new particle consistent with the predicted Higgs boson. For several years, he was a lecturer at the Sapienza University of Rome, responsible for courses on a computer science subject. Since 2000, he has been in the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer collaboration (AMS). He is the author of more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals. His current principal research fields of interest are Cosmic Rays Physics, Space Radiation Science, and Space Radiobiology. He joined the Moon Village Association in 2022 and was appointed in 2023 as National Coordinator for Italy.

Cultural Considerations WG webinar – Still as bright
May 14 2024, 17:30 CEST
“Still as Bright blends scientific, cultural and personal strands in an exploration of the Moon and its place in our lives and in mine. I come to know the Moon through my backyard telescope, traversing its wild and sublime surface while contemplating place, time, childhood, mortality—and the future of humans on the Moon. You’ll meet forgotten selenographers, astronauts, scientists, artists and lunar bat-men (hint: they’re not real). You’ll witness a rocket launch, my failed attempt at an occult lunar ritual (a bit icky) and join me at the eyepiece of the 60-inch reflector at Mt. Wilson, California (like orbiting in a capsule).” -Christopher Cokinos

MVA Lunar Commerce & Economics WG
The Lunar Commerce and Economics Working Group (LCE WG) is looking for new market research leads!
The “Lunar Commerce and Economics” Working Group (LCE WG) provides a forum for promoting an international and interdisciplinary discussion of all potential markets for goods and services that will form an essential part of the Moon Village operations. It provides a focus for businesses who are considering supporting lunar activities, and for government planners who seek to understand the timeframe of, and degree to which, commercial business will be able to contribute to the endeavor of developing the Moon.?
The LCE WG has developed a Lunar Commerce Portfolio (LCP) which is a valuable source of lunar commercial market opportunities data. Market definitions and volumes are evaluated based on several stages of development of lunar activities over time, on which are applied various scenarios. There are 9 markets M1 to M9 in total in the LCP:?
Market research leads are mostly needed for M4, M6, M8, and M9. Contributions to M2 and M3 are also welcome.?
The work consists in two parts:
Interviews will be scheduled. Please send your letter of interest and personal information to the WG Co-Chair, Christophe Bosquillon. ([email protected] )
