Mutual Fund Snippets: T30-B30 April 2023
After experiencing a decline in the previous month, the Average Assets Under Management (AAUM) recorded a notable 3.7% sequential growth, reaching Rs. 41.53 lakh crore in April 2023. On an annual basis, the AAUM saw a solid increase of 6.8%, and remained consistently above Rs. 40 lakh crore in April 2023.
The contribution from T30 cities in the mutual fund industry increased to 83.06%, up from 82.92% in the previous month. However, it was slightly lower compared to 83.45% in the same period of the previous year. The contribution from B30 cities declined to 16.94% in April 2023, down from 17.08% in the previous month. Nevertheless, it remained higher than the 16.55% recorded in April 2022.
At the industry level, distributors maintained their significant contribution to the total Average Assets Under Management (AAUM) by accounting for 55% of the overall figure. The remaining portion was attributed to the Direct Plan.
Individual investors, including High Net Worth Individuals (HNIs), held 58% of the industry's AAUM. Institutional investors accounted for the remaining portion, with 96% coming from corporates and the rest from banks and Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs).
