The Must-Read Lead Generation Tale You Need to Scale

The Must-Read Lead Generation Tale You Need to Scale

On December 10th, 2021, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in the bathtub at our home. It was one of the most exciting days of my life.?

On December 11th, I woke up sore and groggy after having just given birth and being up at night with a newborn baby.?

I checked my phone to see heartwarming messages congratulating our family and one message I wasn’t expecting.?

The message was from a client wanting to cancel my social media services.?

I could feel the sting of this deep in my bones because of all the hormonal shifts my body was going through.?

I felt angry and embarrassed that an uncertain financial future would taint these fresh new memories with my baby and Christmas just days away.?

I gave myself 3 days to experience the new baby bliss and simultaneously pout about the client's situation. After all, it was the weekend.?

On Monday, I sat with my laptop in my bed and the baby on my lap and got to work to fill the gap. ?

Here’s what I did…

I summoned my virtual assistant and asked her to start putting together a list of people we could email to fill my open client spot so my poor broken mama heart wouldn’t have to worry.

Once January rolled around, we had a good list, we started sending personalized introduction messages to each person.?

We didn’t have any negative responses. Most people didn’t respond, and the few that did were exactly what was needed to fill the gap.?

Hallelujah! Holy sh*t! Where’s the Tylenol?

Here’s the moral of the story- lead generation works.?It doesn't matter if you use email, Instagram, or LinkedIn.

If you have a list of right-fit prospects, you test various forms of messaging, and you stay consistent by sending at least 5-10 messages per day, your business will grow.

I know because I learned this the hard way.

You deserve stability and success.?

And your customers deserve to connect with you.

But I also know how tricky it can be to set aside the time to start sending those messages.

If you’d like someone to start doing lead generation for you, I can help.?

Thanks for sharing Emmy. You already did the hardest part - carrying a child for 9 months and laboring to give birth. Glad your attitude was "I got this" once the hormone flare up subsided. I only start my business after birthing 4 kids and they were all enrolled in school. ?? I did however, have two clients grumble one summer when I spent it in Europe (to visit my family!!) as they 'felt like they were paying for my trip'. No kidding! Never mind I worked (because - time difference) AND traveled. Thanks for being transparent. Entrepreneurship is exciting, but is als hard!

Thanks for sharing your "vulnerable side of social" Emmy. Being self-employed certainly has its ups and downs. But dang, why did that have to happen at that exact moment? Just shows how resilient you are. Your little ones are so precious! Blessings to you!
