Must-read books for business leaders

Must-read books for business leaders

?? Essential Reading

Over the past 10 years, I have 'read' hundreds of books on the subject of running my business.

Unfortunately, most of them were a waste of time. They could have easily been blog posts or even newsletter emails.

Instead, I encourage you to give these ones a read.

They're well worth the time.

Book #1: Profit First, Mike Michalowicz

This is the first book I recommend to pretty much every business owner who will listen to me.

It's profoundly simple: Take your profit first.

Run your business based on what you can afford today, not what you hope to be able to afford tomorrow.

Book #2: Traction, Gino Wickman

Based on scaling a tech business, Traction shows you the system to use as you progress.

It helped me set achievable goals, build a company structure and ensure I had the right people sitting in the right seats.

Nobody ever fully implements traction. But instead, take what you can and implement as you go on.

Book #3: $100m Offers, Alex Hormozi

Finally, I think this is an essential read when looking at your pricing and packaging.

This totally shifted my thoughts on how to price, market, and sell my services.

I agree with the first 2 but would have picked the compound affect for number 3

Great recommendations, Pete. Here are my top choices: The One Thing, Gary Keller Rising Strong, Brene Brown The Richest Man In Babylon The 5 Love Languages, Gary Chapman Essentialism, Greg McKeown The Gap and The Gain, Dan Sullivan and Benjamin Hardy Awaken The Giant Within, by Tony Robbins Net necessarily in this order, but keep going back to those.

Interesting timing, I was just looking at Traction/EOS Did you follow the rocks and level 10 meeting processes?

Traction was the book that turned it all around for us. We run the business on EOS now. I couldn't get into Profit First, it just seemed too simplistic and obvious.

Two new ones for me there, I’ve listened to Profit First and it was great! Implemented a few elements from it which had a great impact.
