Muslims worldwide begin Ramadan
More than 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide – about 23% of the world’s population – today began Ramadan, the holy month in which fasting is obligatory. This period commemorates the first revelations of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad. Between dawn and sunset, Muslims abstain from food, drink and other desires. #Ramadan stands for reflection, charity and brotherhood. Family and friendship ties are strengthened, and those in need receive extra help. Fasting promotes discipline and self-control.
I wish everyone, and especially my brothers and sisters, a blessed Ramadan.
