Musk's Robot Ideal

Musk's Robot Ideal

In 2018, Tesla's first Chinese super factory was also located in Shanghai at the same time as CATL.

Tesla, known as the "production monster", now has an annual output of more than 930000 vehicles. Tesla, which has reached the goal of one million units, has gradually climbed from 368,000 units in 2019 to 509,000 units in 2020 in just two years, and now has nearly one million units.

But for Tesla in the spotlight, few people know its hidden assistant - a highly automated, industrialized super factory that uses "machines" to produce machines.

It is understood that in 2021, Tesla Shanghai will deliver 484000 vehicles. Behind the hundreds of thousands of deliveries, however, is the birth of a new energy vehicle industry of 100 billion yuan and a tax contribution of more than 2 billion yuan.

Behind the high production capacity is the amazing efficiency of Tesla's super factory: completing the production of a Model Y body in 45 seconds.

When entering Tesla's super factory, advanced automation is the most intuitive feeling. Take car body manufacturing as an example, it almost does not require workers to participate, and it is all completed independently by the mechanical arm.

From raw material transportation to material stamping, to body welding and painting, almost all are robot operations.

The deployment of more than 150 robots in one factory is the guarantee for Tesla to realize the automation industry chain.

It is understood that Tesla has deployed six super factories around the world. For future planning, Musk said he would invest in more robots to expand the scale of production capacity.

Using robots to complete difficult, complex, and dangerous work and solve labor shortages is the original intention of Musk to build a super factory.

However, Musk's robot ideal does not stop in the application of super factories. "The cost of making a robot is less than that of a car."

In this April's TED interview, Musk revealed Tesla's next research direction: Optimus Prime humanoid robot.

In Musk's eyes, Tesla has great advantages in sensors and actuators. It can even be implemented by designing special drivers and sensors required by humanoid robots.

A universal intelligent humanoid robot is the direction that Musk aims at.

"In the next two years, you will see the practicality of humanoid robots."

In fact, Musk finally launched the prototype of the humanoid robot "Optimus Prime" at the just concluded "AI DAY" Artificial Intelligence Conference.

"We may also have our own robot partners". For the next 10-year plan, what Musk needs to do is not only to solve the "labor shortage" with robots but also to infiltrate intelligent humanoid robots into every household.

There is no doubt that the territory of new energy vehicles created by Musk not only ignited the entire new energy vehicle industry chain but also extended a number of leading enterprises, such as the Ningde era, which is home to trillion yuan.

We don't know what kind of surprises and changes this frivolous and mysterious technology geek will bring to the robot industry after he talks about developing humanoid robots.

But the only certainty is that Musk is gradually realizing his robot ideal, or bringing the intelligent era to the present in the form of technology or products.
