South African-born billionaire Elon Musk recently rose up to the challenge after he was urged to make a difference with his wealth by David Beasly, the director of the World Food program. Speaking during an interview Beasly said that Elon could end world hunger.
Elon responded by saying that he would donate $6 billion if Beasly can prove world hunger will be solved.
Elon Musk commits to donating – if he gets the proper motivation
The founder of Space X and Tesla, Elon Musk, has earned himself the title of the wealthiest man in the world with a net worth of $311bn.
As his bank account gets bigger, more and more people look towards him to more to make a difference in the world, particularly when it comes to issues such as poverty and the ailing environment.
One of those people is David Beasly, the director of the World Food program. Speaking during?a CNN interview, Beasly claimed that Elon could solve the world’s hunger problem if donated just $6 billion of his wealth towards the cause.

“$6 billion to help 42 million people that are literally going to die if we don’t reach them. It’s not complicated,” said Beasly.
Instead of ignoring the comment, Elon clapped back by saying?he would make an immediate donation?if it could be proved that the $6 billion would solve world hunger.
“If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it,” replied Musk who also added that should they go forward with it, he would want open source accounting so that the public could “see precisely how the money is spent.”
Beasly backtracks a little
After he and Musk discussed meeting up to further discuss how Musk can help with world hunger, Beasly then went on to clarify that he did not mean that Musk could solve world hunger completely but could make a significant impact.
“$6B will not solve world hunger, but it WILL prevent geopolitical instability, mass migration and save 42 million people on the brink of starvation.”
