Musings on Cultural Disruptions upon Business
Humanity has forever coped with disruptive forces: natural catastrophes, plagues and warfare being the primaries. Historically, tribes endeavored to allay these disruptions by supporting singular strong leaders, usually along consistent blood lines, who demonstrated (apparent) fealty with supernatural, religious forces.
Building upon the secular principles established during the Enlightenment, the past 60 years have witnessed unprecedented progress in human welfare through the constructive, albeit imperfect, interplay between democracy, capitalism, hydrocarbon energy utilization, and humanitarianism.
Now, in 2020, fear has re-gripped humanity in yet another novel way through the ubiquitous Leftist promise of future global pandemics and climate / environmental collapse, enabled by Chinese Communist Party puppetry. The West has very recently amassed unprecedented massive public debt to counter these disruptions, leaving itself weakened in leadership and lacking in confidence.
Consequently, the four pillars of liberal global prosperity cited above, are being severely challenged. Western societies and cultures - architecture being a predominate reflection - are becoming increasingly fettered and regulated leaving individual rights and expression in jeopardy.
