After experiencing a major flood in our basement, we lost the majority of our personal items. But what did survive was a journal I wrote back in 2009. It contained random musings on trying to live a happier and healthier life. I figured if this one book made it to the surface of my despair maybe it was now my obligation to breathe some life into it and share. Here is one of these entries.
When should we be satisfied with our lives? When do we think we have "enough"? When is that tipping point of when we stop reaching for more? Or is there ever one?
There is an old saying that there will always be people who will have more than you and people who will have less than you so we should be satisfied with what we have.
But I believe that too many times we confuse material things as to what people have and should be satisfied with rather than looking at knowledge, contribution or growth as things people possibly have to acquire.
With regards to this, I think we should never be satisfied.
I view life as a time restricted opportunity where we should remain unsatisfied with what we have in knowledge, contribution and growth and continue to remain curious and driven to achieve more.
Afterall, great things would not be accomplished if we all just were satisfied with what we had.
