Music is the soundtrack of our life

Historically, few ensembles in the history of recorded music have individually or collectively had a larger imprint on pop culture than the members of TOTO. As individuals, the band members’ performances can be heard on an astonishing 5000 albums that together amass a sales history of a HALF A BILLION albums. Amongst these recordings, NARAS applauded the collected works with 225 Grammy nominations. It is not an exaggeration to estimate that 95% of the world’s population has heard a performance by a member of TOTO.?

15x the band reshaped since 1977 with new members and musicians who had left and returned, I learned this week on a concert of their current "The Dogs of Oz" Tour. In business for well over 40 years, having sailed through all up's and down's, they still come out and do their thing. Regretting that I discontinued my own keyboard playing at the age of 16, the mood of getting back into it and starting my own band gets revived after one of their concerts - every time! Musical arrangements that were covered numerous times keep their legacy fresh, while they reinvent themselves whenever they play live on stage. This years fountain of youth was granted to the song Georgy Porgy, a tune 44 years of age, that never sounded more up to date and refreshed than in the version of Dominique "Xavier" Taplin, who arranged it in a new fashion for the tour. It was once again a night to remember and I can't wait till the guys come out next time.
