Those for you that are old enough to remember John Miles’ 1976 iconic anthem, you will recall that he continues with:
Music of the future
And music of the past
To live without my music
Would be impossible to do
In this world of troubles
My music pulls me through
A year earlier, my first love was Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ which I tried to buy as a single, but it was sold out everywhere. I was keen to play it on my pretend radio station, with its pretend vast audience.
And so I had no other choice than to acquire the album on which it was contained. ‘A Night At The Opera’ marked the beginning of a lifelong? love affair with Queen, who I was fortunate enough to see no less than six times, including at Live Aid with Lara Danobeitia ?where she stole my heart and where they stole the show.? I am also somewhere to be seen on their ‘Friends Will Be Friends’ video.
It was around this time that I hit Ian Dury’s daughter with my rhythm stick. I think she quite enjoyed it.? I know I did!

I was into all kinds of music genres except modern jazz, although I enjoy trad jazz.
I briefly went through a French Rap phase - I had no idea what they were rapping about, it’s just that I adore the sexy sound of that particular language.
In my thirties, I started consuming talk radio more, and music less.
However, more recently music has entered into my life once more.
One of the positives occasioned by the novel coronavirus COVID-19 was that it spurned innovation - and thus fun fundraising online parties became a ‘thing’.??
This is where the host plays awesome music, and visitors continue to work or play - or to text chat amongst themselves on the remo.co platform which I helped launch some four million events ago.? Members of my new VPN community have access to it 24/7.? It never closes.
Every half an hour or so, the host will stop playing the music to raise awareness about the fundraising cause and point visitors in the direction of their JustGiving or GoFundMe page.? Those present can see the money going up in real time.
This is a zero-risk, no money down fun way for charities to raise money.
Just as laughter transcends cultural and linguistic barriers, music has an extraordinary ability to unite people across diverse backgrounds. Regardless of language, age, or origin, the universal language of music speaks directly to our emotions and senses, evoking feelings that are universally understood. It resonates with the human experience, fostering connections that surpass societal boundaries.?
Just as a genuine laugh can break down barriers and bring people together, music has the power to create a shared sense of joy, comfort, and understanding. Its harmonious melodies and rhythms echo the essence of humanity, reminding us that, like laughter, music is an undeniable force that brings us all together in perfect harmony.
Reach out if you would like me to host such a party for you.? As I operate more than 500 WhatsApp groups, perhaps unsurprisingly the best way to connect with me is on there by clicking here.

1 年Gosh, was it 75 and 76? It seems so early but that’s just the thing - time becomes amorphous with music, and creation in general. It’s very timeless (other than the internal rhythm aspect of it).
