Music Moves All of Us
Knowing how energized I get at a Bruce Springsteen concert or how Gary Clark Jr.'s guitar playing sends shivers down my spine, it is clear that music connects with all of us in ways that are not always easily describable. It is known to heal, to take us to a different place, which is why this piece about Pandora's recent ad about the impact music has on people was so cool.
I replayed it a couple times thinking about how I would answer the question and I'm pretty sure I would have sounded like many of the folks featured in the spot. Those who know me well have seen that I have a very even keeled personality - never too high, never too low. But when the music is on something changes emotionally that brings out reactions that are far from even keeled.
I love music because of how it speaks to me and where it takes me. The connection it delivers to all my emotions can be instantaneous and so memorable. We all remember our first concert (mine was Kiss in 1977), songs that remind us of moments growing up or friendships or difficult times. Thank you Pandora for creating an ad that we can all relate to and thank you to all the artists/musicians who speak to us in ways that no one else can.
