Music, Chairs, and a Goodbye to my Bats and Mighties

Music, Chairs, and a Goodbye to my Bats and Mighties

It’s been 14 years since I began the great BORN journey. I am terrible at Haiku, the 5-7-5 syllable poetic form, that won’t stop me from saying:

As quietly flows the Don,

I will soon be gone from BORN.

Into a new dawn.

Not my finest piece (!) but the promise of a new dawn excites me.

The Great Burmese King, Batu Boromir Daku Mandalay, who rules my world, has approved of this message because, like all cats who like weird stuff, this goes from chairs to a goodbye in a random way.

When you play a game of corporate musical chairs one tries hard to find a chair to sit on, so that when the music stops, one is “safe”.

Over the past few years, the music played and stopped, and sometimes I found myself on a chair, and on other instances, on a throne. I honestly think people stopped the music when I was in front of a chair!

More recently, in the game, the music stopped, and I found myself on a stool that had 2 legs. All engineers know that’s a invention for a ugly fall. So, with the greatest affection for all, I now leave the game, with the fondest memories of the always welcoming TechM Mighties and my BORN Bats.

I was offered no “earnout” or golden parachute as an incentive to stay when I sold my business in 2019. I stayed to ensure that the company that bought our agency did not have buyer’s remorse. I think I did a good job.

At some stage, without realizing it, I overstayed my welcome. The team was far too nice, gentle, respectful to me and that blurred my senses. I stayed and stayed, because of the love, affection and inclusion from my Mighties and BORN Bats, and these are very alluring drugs. My apologies for being the old uncle who could not take a hint.

We at BORN went from zero to a hero. We did well. Your memories with me will be a salve to the grey days that may come upon you, every blue moon. With much love for making 14 years a golden era for me and many of you.

With the fading sounds of Mighties war cry - “Keep Rising” and the hope-full bellow of the BORNies - Onwards. Upwards, behind me, off I go to meet the bright lights of my next journey with a prayer on my lips and a hope in my heart.

Your fearless follower.

?

Well, I am sure your next adventure will be equally fruitful ! Good fortune
